MEET OUR TEAM
Michael Doherty is President of Building Maintenance Services (BMS) of Vornado Realty Trust and has over 35 years of experience in the building service industry. Since 1998, he has run all operations for BMS and is currently responsible for janitorial, security, architectural restoration (Hastings) and window cleaning services managing more than 2,800 employees.
Mr. Doherty earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from The City College of New York.
Joel Birner is Executive Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic region for BMS. Since 2011, he has overseen regional operations of BMS and its subsidiary, Hastings Architectural Restoration. Joel has over 25 years of leadership experience within the commercial real estate market in the Mid-Atlantic region and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland.
Under Joel’s leadership, the BMS regional footprint has seen exponential growth across new markets, such as Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia, and new verticals, including five star hospitality and higher education. During his tenure the company’s growth in the region has exceeded 20%. Joel places a heavy focus on change management and process improvement to accommodate growth, including business automation, as well as human resources and marketing development.
Joel serves on the Board of the Mickey Steele Foundation, and sits on the Committee for Curing Childhood Cancer at Children’s National Medical Center. He is deeply involved in these charities, and believes that companies like BMS have an obligation to give back to the communities they serve. Joel has driven this philosophy in the company by launching BMS Giving Back, under which the company actively supports select charities in the region.
Craig Salewski is Vice President of Hastings Architectural Restoration. He has been with Hastings since 2014 and oversees all facets of running the business, including operations, fiscal planning and business development. Craig began working in the restoration industry in 2008. He spent over a decade as an entrepreneur in the real estate and restaurant industries.
Craig’s leadership experience having managed large and complicated projects such as the historic restoration of bronze at the Supreme Court, and the construction of multiple restaurant locations and residential properties, has been an invaluable asset to the Hastings team. During his tenure, Craig has rolled out new operating procedures and quality control processes that have streamlined efficiency and improved performance. He has also rolled out new services to meet the requirements of current architectural trends, such as concrete polishing.
Craig is an IPCI Certified Craftsman and AWFI Certified Craftsman. He is also actively involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Jeff Woodbridge is a Business Development Associate for Hastings Architectural Restoration. He has been with the company since 2014 and comes to us with eight years in account and project management in the building services industry, and over fifteen years in business development. Jeff has his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.
Jeff is responsible for building partnerships within the commercial real estate industry and serving as a “one stop shop” to our client. His combination of skills and experience allow him to execute well on his responsibilities and he has proven to be a trusted resource to his clients and partners.
Joshua Vogel is a Business Development Associate for Hastings Architectural Restoration. He has been with the company since 2016, and has been working in the industry since 2012. Prior to his work in this industry, Joshua was Vice President of a commercial construction company operating in the Mid-Atlantic and North-East. In this role he ran all facets of the business and launched operations in two new markets. Joshua has his Bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Wisconsin.
Joshua is responsible for building partnerships within the commercial real estate industry and serving as a “one stop shop” to our client. During his first year at Hastings, Joshua brought in one of the largest contracts in the history of the company. Joshua’s philosophy is to be a trusted partner to his clients to accomplish anything they need.
Bill Brandt is the Customer Service Representative for Hastings Architectural Restoration. He joined the team in 2018. Bill’s primary responsibilities are to be the face of the company, act as the liaison for all matters between our clients and Hastings, and to assist the Operations Team with quality control and safety inspections.
Prior to joining Hastings, Bill had many years of experience in the building and industrial contractor industry. He spent six years working in contractor sales for Lowes Home Improvement Company, as well as working for GTS Welco specializing in industrial gases, welding supplies and cryogenics. This experience gives Bill a deep understanding of the ins and outs of our industry.
